Important Update Regarding the Campus Prayer Space

Assalamu Alaykum Dear MSA at UTA family,

For the past two years, CAPPA South B has been more than just a campus building. It has been our home, a sanctuary for our daily prayers, Jumu'ah, weekly halaqahs, and a place where our community has grown and thrived. We thank Allah (SWT) for the immense blessings we have experienced in this space and for the unity He has placed in our hearts.

Recently, we learned that the University plans to demolish CAPPA South B as part of a larger construction project, with demolition scheduled over winter break. This means our community will no longer have access to the building when we return for the spring semester.

After speaking with the Intercultural Student Engagement Center (ISEC), the department that oversees the Musallah space, we were informed that they were not aware of the demolition plans until we raised our concerns. We are grateful for their transparency and for their immediate commitment to supporting our community during this transition.

While this news is difficult, we want to assure you that we are actively advocating for our community's needs. Together with ISEC, we are working to secure a temporary prayer space for daily use and Jumu'ah, as well as a long-term, permanent home that can serve the growing needs of Muslim students at UTA.

New Prayer Locations

We are pleased to announce that new prayer spaces are now available for the Spring 2026 semester:

• Swift Center - Room 125 (1022 UTA Blvd, Arlington, TX 76019)
  Primary location for Jumu'ah prayers
• Library Basement Hallway
  Accessible prayer space within the library basement
• SWSH - Top Floor Prayer Room
  Dedicated prayer room on the 4th floor

We understand that the temporary Swift Center location requires a significant walk from central campus. We are actively working with ISEC to secure a more centrally located permanent prayer space for our community. Your patience and understanding during this transition are deeply appreciated.

Change can be unsettling, but our strength has never come from a building. It comes from the dedication, unity, and resilience of our community. Allah is the Best of Planners, and we trust that with patience and perseverance, something better awaits us, inshaAllah.
